"Let Us Not Politicize The Issue"

It hurts very much to see that our country is attacked again and again. Be it Bomb Blasts or acts of terrorism as we saw in Mumbai. We suffer huge losses, and then we mourn the deaths of those who get killed in those attacks. And then we resume our normal life as if nothing has happened (Why do i say so??).
I said “And then we resume our normal life as if nothing has happened” and then it struck me what have i written?? What was i thinking while writing this??  Is this a truth or it’s just something that came up?? It is a question that each and every one of us should ask ourselves. Because if this statement, that came up spontaneously was wrong, then the perpetrators of those heinous acts would have been brought to book by now. If this statement was wrong then Afzal Guru would have not been sitting inside a jail till now and taxpayer’s money would not be used to fulfil all the demands of Kasab inside his lockup. And many other who commit such heinous acts would have been arrested.

After every such act of violence we see our Media Channels interviewing the people who suffered. Debates being organized on the issue of terrorism in which known people from a spectrum of fields are invited. But one line that is same and comes from the mouth of every journalist is "Let Us Not Politicize The Issue". This happens every time a person from opposition tries to question the policies of the government. If a leader from the opposition party tries to question the wrong policies of the Government, the media starts saying that the opposition is Politicizing the Issue.

It seems as if is "Let Us Not Politicize the Issue" statement has been invented by our media to save the neck of the Ruling Party. Every time someone (Opposition) questions the government they accuse him of politicizing the issue. Interestingly this is done on two levels, one by the Media Channels and other by the ruling party.
I remember that during one such incident (recent blast)  that occurred in Mumbai , one person after that incident was questioning the government and was expressing his views about the present government when suddenly a very well known Journalist asked him “Whether he was a BJP supporter”.

One question that arises from this incident is: “Does it matters if that person supported the Opposition??” So what was the intention of that Journalist while asking him such a question??
Can not a person who supports the main opposition party question the government??
Does he has no right do so??
Or Is he not a citizen of this country ???
Or his rights are somewhat less than those who support the ruling party??

If it is none of the above, then I’m unable to think of any other reason why  did that journalist ask him such a question. Or maybe he will know why he did so.

Media is an important institution. It should not be biased towards any ideology or a party.
But it seems as if the case is totally different in our Democratic country.

The Political parties form the government after winning the elections. The governments formed by them decide the policies that a nation follows. Be it the policies of Security or that of Agriculture. It is that Government, which decides the policies of a country on such acts of terror. So a question that is political in nature needs a political answer.

Like the work of Media is to Report the same way the work of a Political Party is to Politicize. They are not sitting there to do Bhajan and Kirtan. But it seems as if our Media has forgotten this very fact.
If opposition will not Politicize the issue and will not build up a public opinion on such issues, the government will walk away from such incidents. As a matter of fact it does walk away from such incidents. By assuring us every time, that steps will be taken to stop such kind of acts.

Has not enough blood already been spilled?? Have we not suffered enough already?? By such acts of violence.  The government surely should take steps to stop such acts of violence.

But one thing that people of this country do not want to hear, is the statement "Let Us Not Politicize the Issue" by our media to our opposition parties. Because we all know, at the end of the day it is the politicians from the opposition parties and the public of this country who will ask the government to take steps and to formulate laws to stop such incidents of violence.
